Shravanabelagola( Shravana-bela-gola) is place in Channarayapatna (Channa raya patna) town in Hassan District. The nearest city is Hassan only 50km. from Bangalore is 150km and from Mysore is 80km.
So I want to share only my experience other things u can easily pick from internet, I am a very passionate cyclist, i used to travel everywhere with my cycling sometimes even intercities, but specially inside the Cities, where distance is less, and every vehicles take almost the same time whether it is motorcycle or cycle. Cycle is best mean of transportion to beat the city traffic.
But this time i choose motorbike, so i rented the bike from RENTNZIP.IN ( near Leela Palace, Manipal Hospital, Domlur ). We started the journey at 2 pm, the journey was very interesting and road and surrounding is exquisite.we covered 100km on Mangalore-Bangalore (NH8) then took left for our Spirtual destination. The full surrounding is packed with tall and beutiful coconut tree. We seen lots of Ganapati Idol on the way because of Ganapati Chaturthi.
Ganapati Bappa Morya.....................................................................
around 5:30 pm we reached and quickly went for Dharshan on Vindhyagiri hills, where we seen the statue of Gommaṭeśvara Bahubali dated 978-993 AD. this is the largest monolith statue in the world. This was craved by great Architect by Chavundaraya in 982 AD .
This place have two very small hills ''Vindhya giri'' where the Bahubali Statue installed and ''Chandragiri hill'' where have 15 Jain basadis(Temples). Everybody can easily climb within 20 mins on both hills, The Elevation of Vindhyagiri and Chandragiri from ground level is only 400 feet and 200 feet respectively, because the Sharavanabelagola itself is 2850 feet (870) high from sea level. So prominace of both hill is very less, Both hills have proper steps towards top....
By 6:30 pm we retured back , Temple is already closed, we were enough lucky to conquered the summit before 6 pm, It was very heavenly to see the Bahubali, the 1st Tirathkar of Jains and founder of nonviolence (ahimsa) towards all living beings.
After we took Dinner and booked deluxe room @ only 270 rs. at Jain Dharamshala, Room is immaculate, cheap, and spacious, Next morning we went for Chandragiri hill, hill is like a monolith, on the top of hill around 15 temple of Tirathankar, Chadragiri is looked like a Kingdom on hill exactly last time i seen in Telugu film Bahubali. This place is fine example of ancient architecture. Its surely blow ur mind,
at around 10:30 we took delicious Breakfast at Jain Bhojanlaya near the base of both hill, after that visited Jain Temple where 24 Tirathkar kept in a row,the sanctum sanctorum of Every temple, the temple consists of small museum, please never missed it, the paintings and history is worth watching and reading ... it was really very heavenly, then around 2 pm took Lunch at Jain Bhojanlaya, after some rest.
at 4pm back to Banaglore........ Journey end with a heavy rainfall We both ( me and my friend Sayan Basu) fully Drenched, At the same time we seen lots of Ganesh Idol at Ulsoor lake, it was the last day Visarjan Day of Ganapati Bappa.
Above all It is a Peaceful , Nature friendly, Full of amazing food, full of temples, full of amazing people........
Must visit place if u are in a nearby city like Mysore or Bangalore........
Writing cond.......
